#ExploringLayers: Jan 18, 2018

by Shelley Graham Turner (2018) www.sgturnerart.comSharing photos from my work session on January 18

Today I worked on two paintings. Both contain swirls and rounded shapes, which appears to be my favorite shapes.

I created both pieces using the same color palette but tried different methods of mark making. I love the sound and feeling of the paint as I draw the marks with the end of my paintbrush! I got additional texture by using my brayer.

As you can see the second one is simpler in its composition, but the texture is beautiful – more so than in these photos. ~S

Watercolor paper, acrylic paint,  oil pastels and Neo-Color II crayons – abstract, free expression.
