Sharing photos from my work session on January 24

This one that started out really ugly! I think it was my color choices. I wanted to switch it up since I saw that I have been playing it pretty safe with my greens and blues.

I began with using a broad black marker and just throwing lines on the paper. Then I put down a bit of flesh colored acrylic, added white and red. Moved it around using brush and a brayer. Made a few marks. When I left it for the night, it was so bad. I just hoped I could do something with it in the morning – and I did!

I went back and went over the whole thing with watercolor wash of blues and greens, and I think a bit of purple (but really watery). I left it to dry and I saw I liked it. I then added some marks with the neo-color crayons. I usually just enhance the colors that are there. I find the painting kind of speaks to me in this last step. It tells me to add a little here, add a little there.

So once again, here is my favorite slice. ~ S

Watercolor paper, acrylic paint, watercolors and neo-color II crayons – abstract, free expression.
