Now that it is official I can share some exciting news! I applied to the Newnan Artist Residency (Georgia) and I was offered a residency this summer. "Newnan ArtRez offers residencies to emerging and mid-career artists from various disciplines so they can pursue their art away from everyday pressures while engaging in community experiences that enrich Newnan and Coweta Countyโ€™s cultural environment." Resident artist are expected to interact with the community through demonstrations, workshops and/or performances/art shows. I will be conducting two workshops with children at their local Boys and Girls Club. I may also have a small showing of the work I finish while I am in residence. They provide a lovely home which is equipped with an office and a working studio. There are also opportunities to interact with other area artists and attend local art events. To say I am excited is an understatement! I reached one of my goals for 2019….and if I do end up showing my work there, I will have reached both goals. Guess it's time to set new ones! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฝโ€๐ŸŽจ #goals #artist #artistgoals #residencies #artresidency #goodnews #happiness #excited #blessed #georgia #georgiaart @newnanartrez #newnanartrez #dreamsrealized

It’s not even 2019 yet and I managed to reach a goal I set for myself. I try to set goals for myself (my artist self) every year, do you do the same? The first 2019 goal was to apply and get accepted to an artist residency program. I am thrilled that I was accepted to the very first one I applied for! I used the website, Alliance of Artists Communities, to choose one I thought was a good fit for me.)

So excited! (and to be completely honest with you, I am scared on a few levels. More on that later!)
